Proof That I Actually Do Spin Sometimes...

Mmm... Malabrigo!

I just went back to check through my archives, but I'm surprised I never blogged about this. A few months ago, Gina ran a contest/KAL for her Amanda Hat pattern, and the lovely Amanda (namesake of the pattern) judged the photos sent in to see which ones she liked the best... and much to my surprise, I ended up being one of the winners.

We Got Spunky

Yesterday, we went up to the grand opening of the Spunky Eclectic shop in Lisbon, ME. I sorta knew in the back of my head that this was going to be a spending trip... and it was... believe me it was. I got so much nifty stuff!

8/385: Crazed Sock Yarn Addict

The Weekend

For the most part, it was a fairly productive weekend. I slept in on Saturday, and had the hankering to knit, problem being none of my WIPs were exactly what I wanted to knit... I have a dishcloth in progress, but I'm out of one of the colors of yarn, and I sorta want it to be uniformly colored... I have three socks going, but two of them were lace and required more concentration than I wanted to give, and the other is the most boring K2, P2 rib and not only is it boring, it's slow and on size 0 needles.

The First Hank Off The Wheel

I'm pleased to share my first hank off the wheel! The purple I plied it with was spun previously on the spindle, and then I spun it together on the wheel this evening.

I Have a Wheel (and yarn, and roving)

I'll be the first to admit, one of my least favorite things after coming home from traveling is writing the obligatory blog entries about how things went. Obviously, everyone wants to know how it went... but I always am so tired when I get home, and if I don't blog about it right away, I know I'm not likely to at all.

My main mission was complete, I did buy my Hitchhiker spinning wheel. I tried spinning on it this morning, but I was having issues getting the roving to attach to the leader yarn, so I ended up giving up... I figured I'd ask someone online for some ideas.

Butterfly Wrap

I told myself I wouldn't buy any more yarn... but I really want my mom to make me a Butterfly Wrap, and I know if I want nice yarn used, I need to buy it... It calls for Blue Sky Alpaca Alpaca Silk, which was around $10.50 for a 50g hank from what I priced, and it takes 22 hanks for the size I need in the robe length... which is like $230... I don't want to spend that much! I'm looking for a cheaper substitution yarn... If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it... It's a DK weight yarn.

Vermont, Ho!

We're off to Vermont tomorrow for Vermont Sheep & Wool. I'm on a mission to get a HitchHiker Wheel, and the guy who makes them is going to be there, so I'm going to get one. I almost got one at NH Sheep and Wool, but then I decided I wanted to research it more, but everything I've read about it has been good so I'm going to buy it.
