Thoughts on the Mini

I got my Dell Inspiron Mini 9 last week. I'm mostly impressed with the little machine. Typing is a little more difficult on it than I'd hoped it to be, mostly because the apostrophe/quote key is in an awkward spot... It's down on the bottom row, two keys right of the space rather than being to the left of enter, so I keep hitting the enter key whenever I mean apostrophe or quote, which is fine enough when typing a blog entry but is massively annoying with IM because I now have the misfortune of hitting send on a message before I'm done with it.

New Cute Mini Laptop

New Cute Mini Laptop!

Thank Heaven for More RAM!

My new parts arrived last Wednesday. Matt disassembled my machine and then put both mine and my dad's together. We took my dad's over to their house on Thursday, but promptly forgot to bring an Ubuntu disk with us and downloading anything at their house is painfully slow... so we went back on Friday to finish up the job. Results, a computer my dad is happy with! Yay!

Computer Parts

Finally, my new computer parts are on the way. We'd actually tried to order these twice a month ago, but I'm not sure what happened... I think Matt had his address wrong or something in his NewEgg account or something. Thus, order got canceled twice. Maybe it ended up to not be such a bad thing...

I Think We Can Call This A Success Story

Sometime in late fall, my father started asking for a computer. For a few months, my father poked around trying to figure out what would be a suitable computer for someone who's experience with computers was about as extensive as looking at a tractor website for fifteen minutes maybe once a year.
