Operation Hair Dye
On Friday, I was inspired to cut my hair... Really short. Jokingly, I had commented to Arc that I should dye it some strange color, and he advocated for the deviant act. So, on Sunday... it was done.
The video posted to Seesmic on Sunday:
A picture of the pink and blue hair in all it's glory:
What's up, weather?
Middle of Nowhere
I chose to work with Kiki Halbert's new kit Retro Jungle this week and I think I got a pretty interesting result. I had the hardest time figuring out what photo I wanted to scrap with this kit, so I just started scrapping without a photo in mind.
When I finally ended up going through my photos, I ended up finding this great photo that my mom had took on a trip to Arizona that seemed to fit really well! Kinda ironic that the name of the kit is Retro Jungle and I ended up using a photo of the desert though.
You can grab Retro Jungle over at Sunshine Studio Scraps!
Scrapping the Weekend
This past weekend we had tickets to see The Avett Brothers in Northampton, MA and since my cousin Tom doesn't live too far from there we went down and spent the weekend hanging out with him and his daughter, taking lots of pictures which I've turned around and scrapped with some Flutter Expressions products!
Tom happened to be pet-sitting for a few critters while we were there... Two rats, a gecko and a python. I got some really great pictures of the gecko which I scrapped with Rustic Grunge.
He was a pretty chill little creature. Just sorta sat there and let Matt hold him.
On Sunday, we took my cousin's little girl to the park to go on the swings and play on the playground and get some pictures. I used Color Line Design's August Template Challenge template and Flutter Expression's Bold n' Dirty to scrap the trip.
On the way home we stopped for lunch at the Whately Fillin' Station Diner and got some gas, which where the photos from this last layout using Bold n' Dirty and The DigiChick's August 4th Sketch Challenge template. I don't usually scrap in 8.5 x 11, so I thought I'd give it a try for once!
Whoa! I Have an Exploding Scrap-life!
I have three pieces of exciting scrap related news!
One, I was accepted to Flutter Expressions CT team. Katherine, the mastermind behind Flutter Expressions is a talented new designer selling at Been There Scrapped That. I've already been quite busy creating some layouts for her!
First of all, from her Soft Storm kit I have made...
Which I also made for the Been There Scrapped That Jump Start Challenge for July. Template by Colie.
Which I also made for the Been There Scrapped That Desktop Challenge. Template by IkeaGoddess.
From her Retro Fun kit I have made...
Look forward to more great layouts made with Flutter Expressions products!
Second, I was also accepted to Kiki Halbert's CT! I've known Kiki from hanging out on the wedding board scene and she was one of my inspirations for getting into digital scrapbooking. It's a real honor to be scrapping for her! Kiki's designs can be found at Scrapbook-Elements, Plain Digital Wrapper and Sunshine Studio Scraps.
I whipped up this layout for her For Sentimental Reasons kit.
Lots more Kiki Halbert layouts to come in the future!
Third, I have just become a moderator at Scrapbooks Gone Digital! Scrapbooks Gone Digital is very near and dear to my heart because of their encouragement and support of the use of open source software in digital scrapbooking. It's the only digital scrapbooking forum that I know of that has made a concerted effort to offer to support for The GIMP to scrappers. I'm excited to be a part of their effort! It's a wonderful welcoming little community of scrappers that would love to see you there!
Our Mini-Vacation to Cape Cod
We went to Cape Cod over the weekend for the Woods Hole Film Festival.
Thank Heaven for More RAM!
My new parts arrived last Wednesday. Matt disassembled my machine and then put both mine and my dad's together. We took my dad's over to their house on Thursday, but promptly forgot to bring an Ubuntu disk with us and downloading anything at their house is painfully slow... so we went back on Friday to finish up the job. Results, a computer my dad is happy with! Yay!
My computer... however... didn't go so smoothly. The motherboard he bought is relatively new and has an onboard graphics card... new enough to not have it's driver supported in the version of Xorg that's currently in the Ubuntu repository. It took until Sunday until Matt got is all sorted out and I had my computer back. Scrapping is sooooooo much easier on 4gb of RAM!
Friday I managed to get out of the house because I noticed that the lovely Tracy was in Boston for PodCamp over the weekend, so I went down to show her where the nearest wifi was from where she was staying and for lunch. Great to see you, Tray!
Today, I finally got the ends woven in on a project I finished knitting a couple of weeks ago... The Feather and Fan scarf...
Not exactly the best picture of me... but... look at the scarf.
Last but not least... Scrapping layouts!
